Individual Assignment – Reflection Paper

 

Framework/Purpose:

Reflection allows an individual to personalize key lessons and engage in a process of sense-making that is often not possible amidst the busy-ness of one’s life. It is critical for learning and self-development, and fundamental to effective leadership and group dynamics.

 

Guidelines:

·       Based on Self-Insight surveys and course materials from the first six weeks, identify and analyze the strengths & potential weaknesses you bring to team leader and team member roles, and develop a plan to become even better in both roles; starting with the Team Assignment in this class!

·       The body of your paper should be approximately 5 pages long; this excludes the cover page, table of contents, and appendix. Please use normal margins, Times New Roman 12-size font, 1.5 spaced, and aim for being both comprehensive & concise in your writing. Your paper should include:

o   Cover page and Table of Contents;

o   Introduction (0.5 page): briefly introduce yourself and your approach to this assignment;

o   What I Learned About Leadership & Followership (1 page): provide a concise summary of key lessons you learned in the first six weeks of this course; refer to multiple concepts and show understanding of why they matter. Please write in your own words; DO NOT just copy class material/definitions;

o   What I Learned About Myself (2 pages): 1st page – summarize the results of all Self-Insights and what they may mean on one page (use template provided on next page);                       2nd page – identify themes that emerged from multiple insights and identify your strengths and areas for further improvement in relation to effective leadership and followership; 

o   Personal Action Plan (1 page): based on identified strengths and areas for improvement, create a substantive and effective action plan to become an even better team leader & member, starting with the Team Assignment in the second part of this class!                   Please use the Start-Stop-Continue action plan template provided on following pages; elaborate on each action item in a short paragraph;

o   Appendix: attach hard copies of all your Self-Insights.
